HOW WE HELP
We take a fitness forward approach to our treatment and keep you training while you recover.
- We tailor the assessment to the movements that are causing you pain - deadlifts, squats, pull-ups - not a generic exam. You'll leave your initial evaluation with a full understanding of why you're in pain and what we're going to do to fix it.
- You'll never hear us tell you to stop going to the gym. We work with your coach and help modify programming appropriately so you never have to miss a class or training session.
- You'll get a customized home exercise plan that is programmed to address your specific needs and complement your training. No more generic yellow theraband exercises you probably wouldn't do anyway.
- We use manual therapy like dry needling, joint manipulation and mobilizations to reduce pain quickly in order for you to get moving. Our goal is to get you off the table and back into the gym ASAP!
- Have questions or need a tweak to your program in between sessions? Message Dr. Matt directly for program updates or training modifications - no waiting until your next session for feedback.

THE PACK PT DIFFERENCE
Why Pack PT is the clear choice for CrossFit athletes in Rocky Hill
At Pack PT, we understand how to help CrossFit and fitness athletes because we walk the walk. Dr. Matt is a CrossFit level 2 trainer and between training 5-6 days a week himself, he is actively involved in his affiliate, Golden Goose CrossFit, coaching the 9a class 4 days a week. He understands the demands training puts on your body and how to safely progress movement for athletes of all skill levels and backgrounds. With over a decade of watching athletes move in the gym, he's able to leverage this experience along with his clinical expertise to modify smartly for any injury so you can keep training while you recover. Pain is not a reason to stop training and you'll never hear us say to stay home and sit on the couch instead of coming to the gym.
Frequently Asked Questions
No! Connecticut is a direct access state, which mean's you don't need a referral from a physican to come see us. You can book your first appointment directly with us.
The duration of your initial treatment plan depends on many factors including how severe your injury is, how long it's been going on, your current capacity, and what your goals are. Acute or recent injuries may require less time while chronic conditions likely require longer. Most patients benefit from a 2 or 3 month initial plan, with weekly sessions sessions to begin, and biweekly sessions as the treatment plan progresses.
We work with everyone, from competitors to total beginners. With over a decade of coaching, training, and competing, Dr. Matt understands the needs and demands of CrossFit across all skill levels and training histories.
Watching you do the movements that are challenging you or causing pain is an important part of how we help you treat all the factors contributing to your pain experience. We help identify technique errors that are contributing to your pain along and work with you to improve your movement faults. Think about it this way, if we make you stronger and more mobile but you still deadlift with poor mechanics, you're going to continue to irritate your back!
Total rest is rarely the answer for pain. Our bodies were designed to heal on the move, and for most conditions most of the time, we need you in the gym continuing to train to create an optimal healing environment. We make sure you understand what types of movements might aggravate symptoms and provide you with the guidance to modify your training appropriately while respecting symptom behavior.
At Pack, we are proud to be out-of-network in order to provide the individualized care you deserve and create a long term solution for your pain. Sadly, insurance coverage often stops when your pain is gone. However, being out of pain doesn't mean you're ready to go back to your sport or activity. We provide a progressive plan to improve your strength and build the resilience your body needs to feel 100% confident that you are ready to set a new PR in the gym, finish a half-marathon, or hike up Pikes Peak with your pack!
Upon request, we can provide a superbill after each visit so you can seek reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. HSA and FSA cards are also accepted.
